Southern Illinois, often referred to as "Little Egypt," is is bordered by the Mississippi River to the west and the Ohio River to the east and south. The region is characterized by its rolling hills, forests, and numerous state parks.
Southern Illinois is known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities. Popular attractions include the Shawnee National Forest, Garden of the Gods, and Giant City State. There are also several historical sites, wineries, and cultural events.
